Long Dark Night
2024-2026Long Dark Night is an ongoing series of figurative oil paintings that extends the thematic inquiry initiated in My Dear Puppets. Translating archetypal figures and inner psychological states into symbolic landscapes, the series unfolds within dreamlike steppe environments that subtly reference the artist’s Kazakh heritage.

Rather than constructing linear narratives, each painting functions as a suspended image-state — a moment of transformation, confrontation, or stillness. Through recurring figures, nocturnal settings, and mythic atmospheres, the series examines processes of inner change, resilience, and self-recognition.

Developed as an evolving visual mythology, Long Dark Night explores the relationship between symbolic embodiment, emotional memory, and narrative space in contemporary painting.1. Prophetic Night
