Aliya Davletova (1995, Kazakhstan) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Vienna, Austria. Aliya works with both analog media, such as painting, drawing and sculpture, and digital media, which includes 3D, 2D animation and immersive simulations on a 3D engine. The key to her inspiration and the subject matter of her work originates from personal life experiences, deep self-reflection and exploration of human nature and soul. The images in her works often resemble plots and motifs from fairy-tale, mystical universes, which in turn convey the symbolism of the inner world.

FRANKA  ︎︎︎

2023 / Textile Interface
Non-Human Sounds Performance

Franka is a handmade textile puppet 2.10 m high, which’s name refers to Frankenstein.
Being connected with ropes to the joints, she acts as a physical interface for both individual and collective interaction. During the interaction Franka, as non Human, comes to life and raises the topic of the lifeless matter revival. She acts as an avatar, doppelgänger, an alternate body connected to the operator/s, which questions the concept of control. Are you controlling her, or she is you?
